Taylor Speaks Out With Teen Vogue

Taylor Swift

Every magazine wants to hold an interview with Taylor Swift and get the chance to get to know her. She is so blessed with so many talents, that all of her interviews are proactive and full of new secrets. She speaks so well to interviewers and reporters and she could teach a seminar on how to disregard disrespectful questions. Other actors and musicians around her age should look up to her and take some notes...

Perfect Client: Taylor Swift

I know that a career in public relations could possibly be a difficult career. There will be ups and downs and difficult times with clients. Yet one person that would be the perfect client is classy, beautiful, and honest-- and that is Taylor Swift.

She has never had sex, she has never drank alcohol or tried drugs. She is complex and obsessed over. Millions of girls around the nation and possibly the globe love Taylor Swift. She is at the perfect point of her life, and she deserves it.

Taylor recently released her third album labeled 'Speak Now' where she finally named names while she told the truth about her love life and her past relationships with men/boys that have done her wrong. She stays in constant contact with her friends and she is a truly passionate person. She puts more work and dedication into her career than most other musicians and she has truly deserved everything that she has received.

Not Even PR Can Save Wal-Mart

Wal-Mart has faced several set backs in their longevity of business. Many accusations have been made against them as a corporation, and their public relations team has come to the rescue every single time they have been doubted. In early 2010 Wal-Mart was caught once again under a bad publicity cloud. Around 1 million employees, all female employees, for paying women less than men and not allowing women the same process or access to managerial positions.

Public relations comes in to help, yet that is a major fault of the Wal-Mart and it would be difficult for any Communications Department to save them now. The law suit remained in the media mostly because Wal-Mart was hesitant on settling the case. Wal-Mart began to push into urban areas that have not had a strong link to retailers for years.

Such bad press has surrounded Wal-Mart and these types of leaks only make the company look weaker. The PR strategy has since backfired on Wal-Mart and they will take a hit that they may or may not be prepared for. One documentary that was released was called, "The High Cost of Low Price." I, personally, watched this documentary in a class this semester and it was disturbing.

Wal-Mart was accused of mistreating their employees in several ways and this documentary had actual testimonies, that made it seem even more real. I wish the Wal-Mart public relations team luck, but we will just have to wait and see...

Holiday "Cheer"

The truth is, a lot of money is spent around the holiday seasons. Promotion and media for items and event across the globe. One thing that is so surprising is that the release of movies always spikes during these few months of family time.  Advertisers make it seem as if movies are the perfect place to take your family while they are visiting for the holidays.

As nice as it seems to watch the latest releases on the big screen while many people have time off of work, it just seems like the wrong time to see a movie. Maybe if Public Relations and the Media spent more time on family oriented things, such as volunteering to local hospitals, food pantries, or shelters rather than spending $100 for the entire family to sit down for 2 hours. There are plenty of opportunities to help the less fortunate during this time of year.

Things in this local area are the Charleston Food Pantry, Retired Senior Citizen homes, Sarah Bush Lincoln, and/ or the Coles County Animal Shelter.

Go out into the world and participate in activities that better the community!

PETA Awareness

The mistreatment of animals is a global problem. There is a group of people that are standing up against the   companies that abuse their rights to murder animals for food. Recently, an egg company had to stop plan to grind live chickens. The abuse of animals for food, fur and other vicious cruelty. It is simple to become a PETA 'change maker' and change the way you live your life.

PETA stands for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. The members of PETA stand up for the rights of animals, because not many other people do. They teach the public about the mistreatment of animals through events, investigations and research. They are constantly reaching out to legislation for support and help in their efforts across the globe and could always use extra support.

Some of their efforts include issues such as cruelty to animals and inhumane killings of other animals.

Eating meats supports animal cruelty.

National Humane Society

The best things to support in life are those that help others. The American National Humane Society is one of those things; they help animals and pet owners across the United States of America. Animals that are born into misfortunate circumstances or have owners that are abusive-- deserve another chance at life and at a healthy future.

Animals need to be treated as humans are. They deserve a healthy and happy life. The National Humane Society puts together groups and benefits in order to save the animals across the globe that have experienced misfortune in their lifetime. The society has blogs posted and websites in order to prevent animal abuse, and to help the animals currently in abusive situations.

You can help too. Sign up for brochures or donate to the foundation, and save an animal today.

Meet Me

My name is Kelsey and I am currently a junior at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois. Communication has always been an interest of mine, because the entire world of communication intrigues me. Everything from the electronic and personal level of communication that this major offers sparks my attention. I choose public relations as my option in my major because PR has been such an important tool for so many communication departments of business and corporations across the globe for years.

The opportunities that public relation communicators encompass are so important to the communication field in general, not only to a specific corporation.

In this blog I will experiment with public relations in general and different aspects of the career.
